Sailing the Nile on a Dahabiya Cruise is one of the most authentic and exclusive ways to discover Egypt’s treasures. Unlike larger cruise ships, the Dahabiya offers an intimate and elegant experience, blending luxury with the charm of traditional sailing. With fewer guests on board, you will enjoy personalized service, fine dining, and a peaceful atmosphere as you glide past timeless villages, palm groves, and ancient temples.
This 5-day journey from Luxor to Aswan allows you to explore Egypt’s most iconic monuments while savoring the slower rhythm of Nile life. In Luxor, walk through the legendary temples of Karnak and Luxor, marvel at the Valley of the Kings, and stand before the Colossi of Memnon. Sail onward to Esna, Edfu, and Kom Ombo, visiting temples that showcase thousands of years of devotion and artistry. End your journey in Aswan, where the majestic Philae Temple and the modern High Dam await.
Each day combines guided tours with time for relaxation on the sundeck, watching fishermen cast their nets and children waving from the riverbanks. Evenings bring tranquil nights moored beside quiet islands under a canopy of stars. This cruise is designed for travelers who wish to step back in time, experience Egyptian history in depth, and enjoy the timeless beauty of the Nile in a refined and intimate setting.

Day 1 – Luxor | Embarkation & East Bank Temples
Your adventure begins in Luxor, the world’s greatest open-air museum. After embarkation aboard your elegant Dahabiya, enjoy a welcome lunch on board. In the afternoon, set out to explore the temples of Luxor’s East Bank.
Start with the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious site ever built, where you’ll walk through the Avenue of Ram-Headed Sphinxes, the towering Hypostyle Hall with 134 colossal columns, and sacred precincts dedicated to Amun-Re and other deities. Continue to the Luxor Temple, gracefully illuminated in the afternoon light, with colossal statues of Ramses II and the beautifully preserved Avenue of Sphinxes linking it to Karnak.
Return to the Dahabiya for dinner and your first overnight stay on the Nile, moored along the banks of Luxor.
Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 – Luxor West Bank | Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut & Colossi of Memnon
After breakfast, journey across the Nile to Luxor’s West Bank, where Egypt’s most celebrated treasures await. Enter the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs prepared for eternity in elaborately painted tombs carved deep into the cliffs. Visit three tombs included in your ticket, with the option to explore the tomb of Tutankhamun or Seti I for an additional fee.
Next, visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a striking monument built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Admire its terraces, elegant colonnades, and wall reliefs telling the story of Egypt’s most powerful female ruler. Conclude with a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues that have stood for more than 3,000 years.
Return to the Dahabiya for lunch, then begin sailing south toward Esna. As you relax on deck, watch daily life unfold along the riverbanks—farmers tending fields, children waving from small villages, and birds flying low across the water. Dinner and overnight moored near Esna.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 – Sailing to Edfu | Temple of Horus
Wake up to the gentle motion of the Dahabiya as it sails toward Edfu. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before disembarking to visit the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Reached by traditional horse-drawn carriage, the temple is dedicated to the falcon god Horus and boasts towering pylons, vivid inscriptions, and reliefs depicting the epic battle between Horus and Seth.
After your visit, return to the Dahabiya for lunch and continue sailing downstream. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the shaded sundeck, reading, or simply admiring the picturesque scenery of date palms, villages, and desert backdrops. Dinner and overnight moored beside a peaceful Nile island.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 – Kom Ombo Temple | Sail to Aswan
In the morning, the Dahabiya sets sail for Kom Ombo, where you’ll visit the unique Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods—Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. This unusual dual design makes it one of the most fascinating sites on the Nile. Examine intricate carvings of ancient surgical instruments, a Nilometer, and reliefs depicting rituals of healing. Don’t miss the small Crocodile Museum, where real mummified crocodiles are displayed.
After your visit, enjoy lunch on board as the Dahabiya sails toward Aswan. The scenery here becomes more dramatic, with granite outcrops, feluccas gliding by, and palm-dotted islands. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner as you moor near Aswan, reflecting on the unforgettable journey you’ve taken along the Nile.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 – Aswan | Philae Temple, High Dam & Disembarkation
After breakfast, disembark the Dahabiya to explore Aswan’s highlights. Visit the High Dam, an engineering marvel of the 20th century that created Lake Nasser. Continue to the enchanting Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and relocated stone by stone to Agilkia Island after the construction of the dam. Its elegant columns, serene courtyards, and sacred sanctuaries make it one of Egypt’s most beautiful temples.
Following your tour, transfer for your onward journey, carrying with you the memories of an authentic, elegant, and timeless Nile adventure.
